The Safe Life Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization, is now recruiting a pool of teachers to deliver the Safe Life lessons to individuals with developmental and other disabilities, including autism. The lessons empower these individuals with skills to make positive choices and decisions regarding personal safety, abuse prevention, reporting and appropriate relationships. The objectives for our clients surround three themes: 1) To learn why self-determination, abuse awareness, personal safety, incident reporting skills, and civic responsibilities are needed; 2) To receive information, tools, and strategies that can be used to address physical, emotional, social, and civic well-being; and 3) To practice and apply learned safety, abuse prevention, and decision-making skills in daily living environments.
There are many benefits to working with our clients, who typically are referred by Alta Regional. Not only is there the personal reward, but the Safe Life teacher has the opportunity to reduce the victimization and re-victimization of our clients, that is so apparent in the crime statistics. We hope you join us in this effort!
